Welcome to Fibroids.solutions!
Although not discussed much in our society, fibroids are a very common condition in women. But just because it’s common doesn’t mean that it’s easy to deal with.
Some of the symptoms can be very difficult to cope with. Modern medicine can make this easier, but the side effects aren’t desireable. This leads many to look for alternative and natural ways to treat fibroids.
Facts On Fibroids
1.) As stated, they are very common and around 70% of women will get them. Most women get them starting in their mid to late 30’s up until their early 50’s. Chances go up if you’ve ever been pregnant or had anyone in your family with them.
2.) African American women are 2 to 3 times more susceptible to fibroids than other races.
3.) Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors. They are also referred to as myomas or leiomyomas.
4.) The most common symptom is heavy menstrual flow (lots of bleeding). This can include bleeding between periods.
5.) Embolization is an alternative treatment to surgery, but it can also cause early menopause.
6.) Fibroids are usually detected via an ultrasound done by their gynecologist.
7.) They are the leading cause of hysterectomies in the United States. Between 200,000 and 300,000 are performed each year.
8.) Over 50% of women who have a hysterectomy also have their ovaries removed. Not only does this cause early menopause, it also makes one infertile.
9.) Prescription drugs are available, however they can have some undesireable side effects like bone thinning.
10.) No one is really certain why fibroids form in the first place. But the good news is holistic methods for treating fibroids are available!
